Wales neglects gifted pupils

I discovered this story on the Edukey website only this week despite the fact that the story actually broke last month! Apologies for avid Webb Review watchers.
ATL Cymru and NUT Cymru have both voiced concerns that the Webb Review has neglected the highest achievers in Wales by concentrating on raising the basic skills of the country.
Dr. Heledd Heyes of NUT Cymru states: “It seems to be lost in Webb what education is for. The impression given by Webb is that work needs to be done to help people get work locally. We do need this but we also need to encourage those who want to go to Oxford and Cambridge or become astrophysicists.”
